Add resources to a Resource List
Using any of several methods, you can build a list of selected records in a Resource List. From a Resource List, you can enhance the records, eliminate duplicated records, print item barcode labels, or export or transfer the resources.
Resources remain in a Resource List until you manually remove them by clicking Remove or Remove all (at the bottom of the list), or until they are automatically removed by the merge process.
To add resources to a List
On the Add to <list name> page, select a method for identifying the resources to add:
- Using a list of barcode numbers
- Entering barcodes one at a time
- By date
Use a list of barcode numbers
- Select Barcode List in the Select by list.
- Either select an existing file, or create a new list.
- To select an existing file, click Browse to locate your file.
- To create a new list, place the cursor in the Create a barcode list box and scan the barcodes, or type them in and click Add.
To remove a barcode number from the list, select it and click Remove.
- Click Add to List.
Enter barcode numbers one at a time
- Select Barcode in the Select by list.
- Scan the numbers in, or type them in and press Enter or click Add to List.
Specify a date range
- Select Date Item Added, Date Resource Added, or Date Resource Updated in the Select by list.
- From the list that appears, select After the date, On the date, or Before the date.
- Enter a date. Click the calendar icon for a calendar.
- Click Add to List.
Other ways to add resources to a List
You can add resources from other pages:
From any Search Results page, click Add Page to List at the top, or click Add to this List next to a resource.
From any Resource Details page, click Add to this List.
From any item category, click Add Page to List at the top, or click Add to this List next to a resource.
If you have already added a resource to your List, In This List appears next to the resource.

You can use a List to improve the quality of your resource records or create customized lists.

Add items to a Item Category
When you want to add all the resources' items in a List to an Item Category, it takes just a few clicks to create the category and add the items to it.
- Using any of the methods above, add the resources to your List.
- Then, switch to Item Categories in Resource Search.
- If you are creating a new category, enter a name next to Add Item Category at the top of the page and click Save.
- In the Item Categories list, click the plus icon adjacent to the item category.
- On the page that opens, select the correct Resource List and click OK.
Edit individual records
Each resource in a List has a link to the resource and item records.
Click Details next to any resource name to open Resource Details. From there you can access Edit Resource and Edit Item.
Merge items from several resource records onto one
If you have several resource records for the same items, you can add all the duplicate resource records to a List, select the best one, move all the item records onto it, and delete the others.
Just add the duplicates to a List and select their Duplicated resource check boxes. Then, from the I want to list, select View these duplicates and click Go!.
Print Labels
From Resource Reports in Reports, you can print Item Labels for just the materials in a Resource List.
Transfer resources
In Transfer Resources in the Catalog, you have the option to transfer the resources in a List to another site.
Please note that only the items that belong to your site are transferred.
Update software assignments
If you place a single software resource in a List and generate a License Assignments report, the report includes a barcode file for the items that have that software assigned to them.
In Update Software in the Catalog, you can use this barcode file to upgrade the software license for all the items at once.
