Preferred Barcode Symbologies

Destiny lets you automatically assign barcode numbers to library materials, instructional media materials, textbooks, patrons, resources and locations. The available barcode symbologies depend on the Destiny product you are using.

Example: When you create a patron record, you can either manually assign a barcode by scanning the physical barcode, or you can let Destiny automatically assign a barcode number for you. Destiny assigns the barcode by finding the highest number that has been used in your barcode symbology and increments the item number by one. If necessary, a check digit is also calculated.

Supported barcode symbologies: Follett Classic, Generic Code 39, Code 39 mod 10, Code 39 mod 43.
