Add a catalog title

If you're cataloging a book, you can find most of this information on the title page.

To find the correct form of an author's name, use Find Heading.

The quickest way to catalog an item is to let Alliance Plus do most of the work. An Alliance Plus Recon can add the following types of information: reading and interest levels (excluding reading programs); subject headings; review sources; publication dates; a physical description; notes; and added entries.

To add a catalog title

  1. Create a Resource List for the recon.
  2. On the Brief Title tab, enter the exact Title and Subtitle of the work. The first 80 characters must match exactly or Alliance Plus will not update the record.
  3. Scan the ISBN with the cursor in the ISBN box.
  4. Make sure the Material Type is correct.
  5. Enter the author's Name.
  6. Click Save Title.
  7. On the Title Details page that opens, add the title to the Resource List you created.
  8. When you've added all the new titles, open the Resource List.
  9. Select "Run Alliance Recon" from the I want to list.
  10. Review the job summary. If Alliance Plus missed (skipped) any records, you can process them manually on the Recon tab of Update Titles in the Catalog.
