Add Titles to a Resource List

Using any of several methods, you can add titles to a Resource List. From the Resource List, you can enhance the records, eliminate duplicated titles, add their copies to a category, print copy labels, or export the records.

Titles remain in a Resource List until you manually remove them by clicking Remove or Remove all (at the bottom of the list), or until they are automatically removed by the recon or merge process.

Add Titles to a List

On the Add titles to <list name> page, select a method for identifying the titles to add:

  • By author, subject, or call number range
  • Using a list of barcode numbers
  • By standard number or barcode number
  • By date

Specify a Range

  1. Select Author, Subject, or Call Number in the Select by list.
  2. Enter a range.
    • You can leave both boxes blank to include all of the title records that have author tags, subject tags, or copies with call numbers.
    • If you leave the From box blank and enter a name or number in the to box, Destiny® adds all those up to and including the name or number in the to box.
    • If you enter a name or number in the From box and leave the to box blank, Destiny adds that name or number and all those after it.
    • If you enter the same name or number in both boxes, Destiny adds only records with that one name or number.
  3. If you selected Author or Call Number, select to include brief, full, or both types of records.
    If you selected Subject, select the check box to include your site-specific subjects.
  4. Click Add to List.

Use a Barcode Number List

  1. Select Barcode List in the Select by list.
  2. Either select an existing file, or create a new list.
    • To select an existing file, click Browse to locate your file.
    • To create a new list, place the cursor in the Create a barcode list box and scan the barcodes, or type them in and click Add.
      To remove a barcode number from the list, select it and click Remove.
  3. Click Add to List.

Individually Enter Barcodes

  1. Select Barcode, ISBN, ISSN, or LCCN in the Select by list.
  2. Scan the numbers in, or type them in and press Enter or click Add to List.

Specify a Date Range

  1. Select Date Copies Added, Date Title Added, or Date Title Updated in the Select by list.
  2. From the list that appears, select After the date, On the date, or Before the date.
  3. Enter a date. Click the calendar icon for a calendar.
  4. Select to include brief, full, or both types of records.
  5. Click Add to List.

Other Ways to Add Titles to a List

You can add titles from other pages:

  • In Import Titles, select the Add the titles in the import file to check box and, if you have multiple Lists, select one from the adjacent list.
  • From any Search Results page, click Add Page to List at the top, or click Add to this List next to a title.
  • From any Title Details page, click Add to this List.
  • From any copy category, click Add Page to List at the top, or click Add to this List next to a title.

If you have already added a title to your List, In This List appears next to the title.

List Uses

You can use a List to improve the quality of your MARC records or to create customized lists.

  • Add copies to a Copy Category
  • Edit individual records
  • Export records
  • Merge copies from several title records onto one
  • Perform a recon
  • Print labels

Add Copies to a Copy Category

When you want to add all the copies of the titles in a List to a Copy Category, it takes just a few clicks to create the category and add copies to it.

  1. Using any of the methods above, add the titles to a List.
  2. Then, switch to Copy Categories in Library Search or Media Search.
  3. If you are creating a new category, enter a name next to Add Copy Category at the top of the page and click Save.
  4. In the Copy Categories list, click the plus icon adjacent to the copy category.
  5. On the page that opens, select the correct List and click OK.

Edit Individual Records

Each title in a List has a link to the title and copy records.
Click Details next to any title to open its Title Details. From there you can access Edit Title and Edit Copy.

Export Records

In Export Titles, you have the option to export just the MARC records for the titles in a List.

Merge Duplicate Title Records

If you have several title records for the same item, you can add all the duplicate title records to a List, select the best one, move all the copy records onto it, and delete the others.

Just add the duplicates to a List and select their Duplicated title check boxes. Then, from the I want to list, select View these duplicates and click Go!.

Perform a Recon

You can perform a recon on a group of brief records, or on records you have just imported.
Just add them to a List and, from the I want to list, select Run Alliance Recon and click Go!.

Print Labels and Reports

From Library Reports or Media Reports in Reports, you can generate a Bibliography, Title & Copy List, Collection Statistics - Historical report, or print copy Barcode Labels and Spine/Pocket Labels for the materials in a Resource List.
You can also limit a custom Library - Titles report in Report Builder to titles in a Resource List.
